Dear visitors! We would like to inform you that the existing exhibition “Life in the Seas” is open until August 18, 2024, but from August 19 it will be closed for reconstruction.
The renewed exhibition will feature a hall especially dedicated to the Baltic Sea and its coast, introducing the living organisms – plants, invertebrates, fish and birds, including invasive and alien species, such as the northern gannet and swordfish. A special object will be the skeleton of a mammal of the dolphin family – the bottlenose dolphin – which was obtained from the dead animal washed up on the coast of Latvia in the spring of 2023 and will be displayed for the first time.
After the reconstruction, visitors will be able to discover the peculiar conditions of the warm and cold seas and the variety of animals found in them – corals, large and small tropical molluscs, various species of penguins and seals. The skeleton of a killer whale and parts of the skeletons of other species of whales will be on display to facilitate learning about the body structure of whales. Interactive tools will complement the exhibition.
The information about opening of the exhibition in 2025 is coming soon.
Thank you for your understanding!
