From June 11 to 13, the exhibition "Irises 2026" will take place at the Latvian National Museum of Natural History organized in cooperation with the Latvian Gladiolus and Iris Society. Around 100 varieties in all colors of a rainbow will be exhibited.

Translated from the ancient Greek language, the word iris means – a rainbow. Indeed, irises come in a wide variety of colors, and have long been known in Latvia. The curators will showcase wide selection of irises, focusing, however, on varieties especially suitable for local climate. Well known as well as more recently selected varieties will be presented.

The collections of the following breeders and collectors of the Latvian Gladiolus and Iris Society will be displayed: Dzintra Jurevica, Laimonis Zaķis, Lolita Muhlinkina, Juris Bāze and others.

Highly qualified experts will consult and help to select the best variety and share their knowledge and experience.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, June 11, at 12:00
in the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor.
