From June 11 to 13, the exhibition "Irises 2025" will take place at the Latvian National Museum of Natural History organized in cooperation with the Latvian Gladiolus and Iris Society. Around 100 varieties in all colors of a rainbow will be exhibited marking the 30th anniversary of iris exhibitions at the museum.

Translated from the ancient Greek language, the word iris means – a rainbow. Indeed, irises come in a wide variety of colors, and have long been known in Latvia. The curators will showcase wide selection of irises, focusing, however, on varieties especially suitable for local climate. Well known as well as more recently selected varieties will be presented.

The collections of the following breeders and collectors of the Latvian Gladiolus and Iris Society will be displayed: Ilga Viņķele, Dzintra Jurevica, Laimonis Zaķis, Lolita Muhlinkina, Juris Bāze, Raimonds Puriņš, Agra Straumane and Gunta Jēkabsone. Highly qualified experts will consult and help to select the best variety and share their knowledge and experience.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday, June 11, at 12:00
in the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor.
