Zoology Exhibition Birds of Latvia
Latvia is inhabited by 344 (2010 data ) species of birds most of which are on display in the exposition of the Birds of Latvia. The exhibition features not only common bird species that inhabit Latvia’s forests (the titmouse and woodpecker), fields (the skylark and pipit), gardens (the white-throat warbler and starling), and cities (the jackdaw and crow), but also some very rare species found in Latvia such as migratory birds, rare nesters and disoriented migrants. Examples of these include the griffon vulture, the black vulture and the Eastern white pelican.
The exhibition also features the national bird of Latvia, the white wagtail, the biggest bird to be found in Latvia, the mute swan, and the smallest – the goldcrest.
